Sienna’s Journal

It is nice to see that something constructive is being done and that plans for providing us all with an alternative form of power are actually underway. Perhaps I am naive, but I have never been able to understand why so many of the population seem to be opposed to wind turbines being built. There are a lot of people who say that they are ugly and that they spoil the landscape. Others complain that they make a lot of noise.

I don’t think that they spoil the landscape any more than a lot of other things. In my mind, a wind turbine is far more attractive than a mobile phone mast or a pylon. And if they are causing problems with excessive noise then they should only be put up in locations where they are nowhere near people’s homes. In fact, the best place of all for them is out at sea.

Is it really that complicated? Or am I just making it all sound far simpler than it actually is?

We would probably all be able to agree that fossil fuels are not the future. Except, that is, if you are one of the fat cats ‘working’ at the highest level of a gas company… Surely it is common sense to be using the sun and the wind to create our electricity? These are completely natural elements that can successfully be converted into power and heating for our homes.

Rather than looking at wind turbines as being a blot on the landscape people should be seeing them as a real step forward. And would I like to live right next to one? Well, as long as there wasn’t a problem with noise and it was purely down to aesthetics, then it would not bother me in the least.

One last thing, I have just found a really up-to-the-minute blog on Enigin. It has all sorts of enlightening energy saving plans and promotions, and some pretty delightful posts as well! You should all check it out!
